Actinic upgrade

Actinic software sometimes release patches to fix bugs or new versions of the software to offer enhanced functionality. Actinic version 9 is currently available. For owners of the software to upgrade from an earlier version it is often a case of purchasing an upgrade from Actinic software, installing the new software and importing their old snapshot to upgrade it. Although sometimes this can be problematic and needs manual intervention - see below.

Peblaco offers Actinic upgrade services for users who are currently using an older version of Actinic - 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 and wish to upgrade their software to a newer version 8 or 9. This can be to either upgrade an existing site, or can be done in tandem with creation of a new Actinic web design.

Peblaco has vast experience in upgrading Actinic sites and understands the problems that can arise with layout errors on upgrading from an older version to a newer version.

Actinic upgrade problems

Have you upgraded your Actinic software to a newer version and the Actinic layouts look incorrect, does Actinic show there is an error or functionality problems?, then Peblaco can help.

Sometimes on importing the older version snapshot the Actinic layouts look incorrect or there are functionality issues or coding errors. Why does this happen?. This generally happens on sites that have had their Actinic layouts customised in some way in the past. When the software upgrades the Actinic snapshot it compares the old and new layouts and copies new code into the layouts. This often works okay, but sometimes when the code has been customised Actinic software may come up against these problems:

  1. Actinic software may not be able to find the correct area to copy the new code to, so it may copy code to an unintended area of the page causing the layout to display incorrectly
  2. Actinic software's new code may cause conflicts with the customised code
  3. Old code from the previous version of Actinic gets left in the templates and causes the layout to display incorrectly
  4. Actinic software upgrades old customised layouts but does not copy in new code meaning that software functionality does not work

These layout problems can often be corrected by manually moving or adding the correct code in the layouts. Peblaco has the experience to assist with this.
